    The actor known for her work in movies like Kumbalangi Nights and Virus passed away last night.

    The actor was under treatment for Covid and passed away last night at 10.30 of a heart attack at an Ernakulam hospital.

    Rao has been working in the Malayalam movie industry for two decades making her debut as an assistant director with film-maker Balachandra Menon’s ‘Krishna Gopalakrishna'.

    She made her acting debut in the 2006 Kalabhavan action movie Kisan directed by Sibi Malayil.

    She also worked as an assistant director in hit movies like Mammootty's Daddy Cool, Rajamanikyam’, ‘Thommanum Makkalum’ and Prithviraj ’s ‘Vellinakshathram’.

    And would go on to direct her own short film in 2016 titled Smarana.

    She has also acted in movies like acted in several Malayalam movies such as ‘Salt and Pepper’, ‘Meesha Madhavan ’, ‘Thamasha’, and ‘Vellam’.

    Several actors like Prithviraj and Kunchacko Boban expressed their condolences on social media.

    Rao is survived by her sons Rahul and Sohan.
