After a glorious start by Gujarat Titans (GT), with both openers scoring centuries, it seemed like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would aim to replicate their performance. However, in Match 59 of the Indian Premier League (IPL), CSK lost three wickets within three overs.

In fact, their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, departed for a duck. Scoring just 11 runs, CSK lost Rachin Ravindra (1 off 2), Ajinkya Rahane (1 off 5), and Ruturaj Gaikwad (0 off 3) in quick succession. GT's Umesh Yadav and Sandeep Warrier picked up one wicket each, while one was a run-out.

Fans watching the game have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express concerns about CSK's poor start.

As of writing this article, seven overs have been completed, with CSK scoring 58 runs and losing three wickets. Chennai Super Kings need 174 runs in 78 balls if they want to win, with Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali at the crease.

Earlier, GT posted 231 runs and lost three wickets in their 20 overs. While Gill scored 104 off 55 balls (4s-9 and 6s-6), Sai Sudharsan smashed 103 off 51 balls (4s-5 and 6s-7). David Miller added 16 off 11, while Shahrukh Khan was run out for 2 off 3.

Despite being at the bottom of the points table standings, below already eliminated teams like Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), GT still cling to survival by the narrowest of margins. However, a victory over Titans would propel CSK to 14 points and into third place, ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) based on Net Run Rate.
