Ajay Devgan supports independent films, change in Hindi film industry

Bollywood’s Singham Ajay Devgan collaborated with Brillstein Entertainment Partners in the launch of a US-based production house Shivalaya Entertainment backing independent films which cater to a global audience. He said that he is quite excited to take active part in the changing scenario in the Hindi film industry.
The newly-launched production house is a development and financing unit which will focus on independent films targeting a broader section of the audience. Ajay stated, "At one end, traditional films continue to entertain and make business sense. At the other, there is a resounding presence of some new forms and voices making a mark in this ever expanding medium. I am keen to be part of that growth, that change.”
The actor, who owns another production house called Ajay Devgn Films Productions, said, "I am coming forth to support the independent film process where we can share important stories that need to be told -- global stories that will resonate with international audiences.” Shivalaya Entertainment has also bagged its first project, titled Parched, to be directed by Leena Yadav. The movie is set in rural India focussing on the life of local women. The newly-launched banner will jointly produce films with Brillstein Entertainment Partners’ executive Jai Khanna. As told by Khanna, "We will also be looking at working on projects with a diversity of talent, American or otherwise, with an aim to reach out to wider audiences."
