Aranmanai 4, Nadikar, Usire Usire and more: New South movies releasing in theatres this week

The South Indian film industry has delivered some of the best movies since the start of the year. From Mollywood's consecutive blockbusters like Premalu, Manjummel Boys, and Aavesham to Tollywood's Tillu Square, HanuMan, and Guntur Kaaram, the year has begun with a bang. It's no surprise that movie lovers nationwide are eagerly anticipating new releases from the southern region. This May also promises several films from all four languages, and here are the releases for the first week of the month!

Malayalee From India

Release date: May 1

Directed by Jana Gana Mana-fame director Dijo Jose Antony, the upcoming comedy drama headlined by Nivin Pauly revolves around a Kerala native who is compelled to move abroad in order to save his life. However, when he realises what is awaiting there for him, his life changes forever. Dhaan Sreenivasan also plays a pivotal role in this comedy drama.

Nadikar

Release Date: May 3

Directed by Jean Paul Lal, the upcoming drama narrates the life of David Padikkal, a Malayalam film superstar played by Tovino Thomas. The film is set to showcase what goes on behind the facade of stardom. Bhavana plays the female lead in this movie.

Kollywood

Aranmanai 4

Release Date: May 3

Directed by Sundar C, the fourth instalment of Aranmanai series starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Raashii Khanna revolves around a family who relocates to a haunted bungalow. 

The Proof

Release Date: May 3

This Sai Dhanshika-starrer follows a trial of a woman’s gruesome murder case, the consequences and the path that leads to a notorious drug trafficking scandal. Directed by I. Radhika, the movie also marks Sai Dhanshika's return to Kollywood after a three-year hiatus.

Kurangu Pedal

Release date: May 3

This heartwarming children’s film starring Kaali Venkat follows a young schoolboy who wishes to learn how to ride a bicycle. He rents a bicycle during his summer break to learn how to ride with his friends. The film is backed by actor Sivakarthikeyan’s production house.

Prasanna Vadanam

Release date: May 3

Young hero Suhas-starrer Prasanna Vadanam is a thriller drama about a man with face blindness who gets involved in a murder mystery. Directed by Arjun YK, the movie also stars Payal Radhakrishna and Rashi Singh as the female leads.

Headlined by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, this thriller follows a mother who would go to extreme lengths to save her daughter from a bad omen. Directed by Anil Kaltzm, Niveska plays the daughter's role.

Usire Usire

Release date: May 3

Directed by C.M. Vijay, the upcoming Rajeev Hanu-starrer is an emotional love drama that narrates the story of a couple who belong to two different communities. Srijitha Ghosh plays the female lead with Kiccha Sudeep playing a pivotal role.

Kangaroo

Release date: May 3

Directed by Kishore Megalamane, this film starring Aditya and Ranjani Raghavan is a family-oriented suspense thriller that revolves around a cop who is tasked to investigate a mysterious case surrounding a guest house.
