Lyca Productions unveiled the working stills of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth from the sets of their upcoming movie "Vettaiyan" on Friday. "The Titans of Indian Cinema! Superstar @rajinikanth and Shahenshah @SrBachchan grace the sets of Vettaiyan in Mumbai, with their unmatched charisma," tweeted the producers.

The photos reveal Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth visibly enjoying each other's company and sharing a great rapport.

Rajinikanth is a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan. It's worth noting that during the early days of his career, Rajinikanth cemented his position as a bankable star in Tamil cinema by playing lead roles in the Tamil remakes of Amitabh's blockbusters. Rajinikanth's "Thee" (1981) was the remake of "Deewaar" (1975), "Mr. Bharath" (1986) was loosely based on "Trishul" (1978), "Manithan" (1987) was based on "Main Azaad Hoon" (1989), and of course, "Billa" (1980) was a remake of "Don" (1978).

The two Indian movie icons have also shared screen space in movies like "Andha Kanoon" (1983), "Geraftaar" (1985), and "Hum" (1991).

It was during the shooting of "Hum" that Rajinikanth came up with the idea that inspired his cult classic "Baasha" (1995).

However, the duo has not shared the screen space since "Hum," and it is one of the reasons that makes "Vettaiyan" a special film for fans of both superstars.

Amitabh Bachchan seems to be playing an extended cameo in "Vettaiyan." "Back with the great THALAIVAR .. the Leader, the Head, the CHIEF .. @rajinikanth on his 170th film .. what an honor and a huge privilege .. after 33 years .. !! and you haven't changed a bit .. still the GREATEST," tweeted Amitabh earlier.

"Vettaiyan" is written and directed by T. J. Gnanavel of "Jai Bhim" fame. The teaser that was unveiled earlier suggests the film is a cop drama. The film went on the floors earlier this year, and Rajinikanth has already shot for more than 100 days for the movie.

It also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.
