Tamil actor Kavin made quite an impression on everyone following the release of the trailer for his upcoming movie, "Star." In the film, he essays the role of a struggling actor, and Kavin's performance in emotional scenes was a big hit.

The trailer received high praise from cinephiles and high-profile members of the Tamil film fraternity. In a recent interview, Kavin recalled memorable praise he received from a celebrity in light of the trailer's success. "Simbu sir phoned me after watching the trailer. He gave very positive feedback and told me that he enjoyed the trailer very much. He told me that my acting was on the correct meter and it would connect with the audience," Kavin told Cinema Vikatan.

    Kavin garners high praise

Kavin noted that Simbu was one of his acting inspirations, revealing how he prepared himself for emotional scenes that demanded him to cry. "I have heard stories about how he (Simbu) used to hit himself on his arm before acting in emotional scenes in Manmadhan. I took inspiration from such scenes to act in scenes where I needed to cry. Simbu sir has performed different types of crying. For example, in Vanam, he would have cried differently. The time when he cries while going to hand over the money will be very different from when he cries after giving that money. That's how we learn, watching them. When we get such words of appreciation from those who have inspired us, it is a big moment," he added.

Earlier, director Gautham Menon also heaped praise on Kavin after being blown away by the trailer. "You know when you see a trailer and you want to watch the film immediately, felt like that with this one. Visuals, imagery, and moments that draw you in. This feels like a really good one. And no, this is not a promotional tweet," tweeted Gautham.

"Star" is written and directed by Elan, and the film is due in cinemas on May 10.
