Every week, streaming platforms see plenty of new arrivals. It can be a little overwhelming to pick the right shows and films to watch during the weekend.

Here is a list of the top three new releases on streaming that must be on your watchlist:

    Manjummel Boys:

"Manjummel Boys" stands as the biggest-ever hit in the history of Malayalam cinema. However, its unprecedented commercial success is not the sole reason why this movie deserves a spot on your watchlist. It offers a highly engrossing viewing experience, tailored for the big screen. Particularly, the final 20 minutes of the film, along with the innovative and nostalgia-inducing use of "Kanmani Anbodu Kadhalan," deliver a memorable theatrical experience. Nevertheless, its impact on the audience is unlikely to be diminished when viewed at home.

"Manjummel Boys" draws inspiration from real-life events that occurred in 2006. It revolves around a group of best friends embarking on a cheerful trip to Kodaikanal. However, their joyous excursion takes a dark turn due to their penchant for breaking rules. When one of the boys falls into a void known as Devil's Kitchen while exploring Guna cave, high-voltage drama ensues as the group confronts the forces of nature to rescue their friend.

"Manjummel Boys" is set to debut on Disney+Hotstar on May 5.

    Heeramandi:

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali brings his talent to the small screen with the evocative period drama "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar." Based on the trailer, the series offers everything one would expect from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's work: lavish sets, elaborate costumes, and an atmosphere that evokes the grandeur and complexities of a bygone era. Of course, the series appears replete with grand dances and musical numbers. Sanjay Leela Bhansali seems to have spared no effort to ensure his debut television series resonates with audiences.

"Heeramandi" delves into the world of courtesans, women who entertained powerful men in feudal India with music, dance, and poetry. The series also seems to explore the political influence and power wielded by these courtesans while catering to the twisted fantasies of powerful men. "Heeramandi" delves into themes of love and desire, both within the confines of "The Diamond Bazaar" and beyond, promising an engrossing watch.

Heeramandi is now streaming on Netflix.

    Shaitaan:

If you're in the mood for a full-fledged horror thriller with no comedic interludes to soften the scares, "Shaitaan" may just fit the bill. It's one of the handful of Hindi movies that has struck a chord with cinema-going audiences so far this year.

"Shaitaan" is the Hindi remake of the Gujarati film "Vash." The film opened to mixed reviews, but it seems to have won over horror genre fans. Based on the trailer, "Shaitaan" tells the story of an intruder: a strange man enters the home of a seemingly perfect family and wreaks havoc. The family of four, played by Ajay Devgn, Jyothika, Janki Bodiwala, and Anngad Raaj, come under the spell of a mysterious sorcerer played by R. Madhavan, and things spiral out of control very quickly.

"Shaitaan" is now streaming on Netflix.
