IPL debut at 36, fans talk about CSK's Richard Gleeson set to take the field against PBKS

    Richard Gleeson made his maiden outing in the IPL after he was bought in as a replacement for injured New Zealand opener Devon Conway.

    The clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will see Richard Gleeson make his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 debut in Match 49 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. What's interesting is he is the second oldest player to make his IPL debut since 2014. At 36 years and 151 days old, Gleeson made his maiden outing in the IPL after he was bought in as a replacement for injured New Zealand opener Devon Conway.

    He joined the Yellow Brigade for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. Since his name was announced at the toss by CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, fans can't help but talk about the English pacer and his debut at this age in the IPL.

    As for the clash, Punjab Kings won the toss and have opted to field. Their regular skipper Shikhar Dhawan is still unavailable, and Sam Curran, at the toss, said his team is excited after they won the last game and are going with the same team. 

    As for CSK, they will be missing out on Matheesha Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande today. Pathirana has a slight niggle, while Deshpande isn't well. They have brought in Shardul Thakur, and Richard Gleeson makes his debut. This game could also be Mustafizur Rahman's last game before he departs for national duties.
