Just a few weeks ago, Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta had to come online and post about how the news regarding her desire for Rohit Sharma to become PBKS skipper was fake. While it was learned that a Rohit Sharma fan spread the news, now another fan has posted 'fake' news on X, this time targeting former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel.

In the now-deleted post and page, the Rohit Sharma fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote, "Mumbai Indians were favourites with such a strong team, and still, they are out of the tournament. This is what happens when you try to change things quickly." The quote was shared with a picture of Parthiv Patel and MI skipper Hardik Pandya.

Quoting this post, Parthiv Patel wrote, "Fake quote. I haven't even covered this game. The last one I did was on Sunday. And back next week. So please stop spreading false information to get views and clicks."

Earlier, Preity Zinta had to address the fake news circulating online and even expressed her anger, stating that she never discussed the MI great in any of her interviews. "#Fakenews! All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & his current injury makes these articles appear in very poor taste," wrote Zinta.

"These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online. I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties. All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of #IPL2024. Thank you. @PunjabKingsIPL," Zinta added.

Such news has been originating since the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, especially since Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as MI skipper. Talking about the MI franchise, their loss to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) saw them being eliminated from the Playoff race in the 17th season.

They have just six points on the board with four matches left. The Hardik Pandya-led team can only register a total of 14 points even if they win each of their remaining three matches in the tournament.
